Southern Sea Ventures specialises in sea kayak holidays, offering a diverse range of polar and tropical sea kayaking adventures and expeditions. We first offered kayak vacations in Fiji (Yasawa Islands) and Australia (Hinchinbrook Island) in 1988, and since then pioneered innovative paddling trips in Vanuatu, Antarctica, Svalbard (Spitsbergen, High Arctic), Greenland, Tonga and Australia’s Flinders Island. Our fleets of single and double sea kayaks allow us easy and intimate access to some of the world's most beautiful coastlines, secluded tropical islands, and unforgettable polar landscapes.
In 2004, we introduced new exotic kayak adventures to Turkey and in 2005/06 we added a Caribbean trip on the northeast coast of Panama, which offers a fascinating blend of Kuna Indian culture, coral reefs and tropical rainforest. In 2006 we first paddled the most remote corners of the Scottish Islands, from our mothershipPolar Pioneer. In 2007, we added two more adventures: Across The Circle - Scotland via the Norwegian fjords to Spitsbergen and South Georgia, the Falklands and Antarctic Peninsula. We also introduced kayaking with a hiking option along Turkey's Lycian Way. In 2008 we added five new trips to fill the map! A kayak/camping trips to Croatia's Dalmatian Coast, two ship based adventures to eastern Papua New Guinea, and in the Russian Far East, a trip to the Kuril Islands and one to the Kamchatka Peninsula. Call us for more information. In response to increasing interest in our trips from experienced kayakers, we have added more single kayaks to our Fiji and Polar (Arctic, Antarctic, South Georgia, Norway, Greenland & Scotland) fleets. You can also paddle singles with us in Panama, Papua New Guinea, Croatia and Turkey. Our kayak vacations are fully catered and feature small groups, remote destinations and very experienced guides. We have an active concern for the environment and the countries and cultures that we visit. We have two expedition ships to cover the world’s wild places and provide a comfortable base for our fleets of sturdy kayaks. Polar Pioneer takes us to the Antarctic, South Georgia, High Arctic, Greenland, Scotland and Norway whilst the Marina Svetaeva (freshly returned from the Ross Sea) explores Papua New Guinea, the Kuril Islands and Kamchatka Peninsula.
