EXPERIENCE SUPERB PADDLING, SCENERY, SIGHTSEEING AND CULTURE IN CROATIA

Croatia’s coastline stretches along the Adriatic Sea from Slovenia in the north to Montenegro and Albania in the south. With over 1,200 islands, Croatia has one of Europe’s largest archipelagoes, making it a perfect place for a paddling adventure!

We start the kayak trip exploring the 45km long island of Dugi otok, known for its’ vineyards, orchards and crystal-clear water. Just south of Dugi otok is the collection of islands that make up the Kornati National Park, a paddler’s paradise with cliffs, caves and coves to discover. During the second part of the trip we paddle through the archipelago adjacent to the town of Sibenik and the natural fjord created by the Krka river where medieval fortifications and little towns dot the river’s course.

The trip is hotel and guesthouse-based, with accommodation chosen for location, comfort and the genuine hospitality received as welcomed guests. Join SSV on our Adriatic adventure and experience superb paddling, awe-inspiring scenery and a history and culture shaped by Central European, Mediterranean and Balkan influences.

Day 1

In Zadar. Make your way to the group hotel in central Zadar. The day is at your own leisure to explore this fascinating city. Overnight hotel.

Day 2

Meet your guide in the lobby of the hotel this morning. Transfer to the ferry terminal for the boat to Dugi otok. Settle into the comfort of private coastal accommodation, our base for four nights.

Day 3

We start the kayak adventure with a paddle along the northern side of Dugi otok. Our explorations include the lighthouse at Veli Rat, the village of Soline, set in a beautiful deep bay, and nearby Sakarun, one of the most picturesque beaches on the Adriatic.

Day 4

Today we head to the south side of Dugi otok and paddle some of the islands that make up the Kornati archipelago. Composed of 140 uninhabited islands, islets and reefs covering 300 square kms, the Kornatis are the largest and densest archipelago in the Adriatic.

Day 5

Continuing our exploration of Dugi otok, we paddle the east side of the island from Brbinj, with its two picturesque bays, to Bozava, home to Illyrian ruins, where we enjoy a picnic lunch.

Day 6

On our last day in Dugi otok, we head west to paddle to Mezanj, a small island popular with scuba divers for its’ huge underwater cave. Later in the day, we transfer to Sibenik and our villa accommodation, our base for the next five nights.

Day 7

Today we tour Sibenik, a lovely city to explore by foot, with its’ cobblestone streets, medieval architecture and two UNESCO monuments.

Day 8

Hopping back in our kayaks, we spend a glorious few hours paddling the Krka river gorge, from Sibenik to the last waterfall of the Krka, one of Croatia’s most famous natural sites.

Day 9

Today’s paddling is centred around Sibnenik, with a paddle to Zlarin Island, just two kilometres from the mainland. Zlarin is an island of pines, sandy beaches, idyllic coves and a traditional village.

Day 10

We spend our last paddling day exploring the small island of Prvic, situated in the Sibenik archipelago. The island is just 3 km long, car-free and home to small, secluded pebble coves with crystal-clear water that are perfect for swimming. Return to the villa for our final group dinner.

Day 11

After breakfast and room check out, the trip concludes with a transfer to either Trogir, Split airport or Split city.

Please note, this is a sample itinerary and will vary according to weather, logistics and group preference.
