Svalbard Expedition Cruise

Journey to the icy edge on our farthest northern expedition

Svalbard translates literally to the ‘cold edge’ in old Norse and it is the perfect place to experience polar bears, pack ice and Arctic history among jagged peaks and glaciated terrain. Travelling in the early part of the season, we will maximise our chances of seeing polar bears on sea ice and experiencing all the wonders of the Arctic. Whether you are a sea kayaker or cruiser, the Svalbard archipelago is a must-visit destination.

Cruise

For those who prefer lower levels of activity but are still there for the adventure, join our trip in the Svalbard archipelago. Enjoy at least two outings per day cruising in zodiacs, exploring a series of wonderful landing sites in a small group and soak up your surrounds ashore. We have an exceptional team of passionate polar experts to help you enjoy and understand the regions wildlife, geology, flora and history onboard with our lecturer or while out adventuring.

Cruise & Kayak

Join our paddling program and experience this polar world in a more active, adventurous way. Using our sturdy base camp, the M/S Quest, we will select the best locations to kayak. We will paddle any time the weather allows and will offer at least one extended day of paddling, starting in one location and having the ship collect us in another destination. Don’t miss this opportunity to paddle amongst the pack ice and under the jagged peaks of Svalbard.

Expert Tuition Photographic Package

From wildlife to landscapes, ice and the ever changing light of the midnight sun, Svalbard is a world class photographic location. For those looking to go above and beyond with their camera skills, add on the photographic package and join the grand master of the lens, Paul Hoelen. Operating within an intimate photography group, Paul will ensure you make the absolute most out of every opportunity. He will offer guidance with equipment choices, settings plus technical and artistic approaches to different types of subject matter. Paul will give practical help on how to familiarise yourself and manage your equipment in an extreme environment. He will help to refine your visual approach before, during and after your voyage to ensure you return with a breadth and depth of imagery you can be proud of for a lifetime.
