Sea Kayak Western Australia’s World Heritage Listed Ningaloo Reef
Ningaloo is the southern hemisphere’s largest fringing reef and the close proximity to the shoreline means it is easily accessible; a sea kayaker’s and snorkeller’s paradise!
On the Explorer itinerary we spend as much time in the water as on it with the reward of viewing hundreds of colourful fish, turtles and incredible coral. On land, we’ll keep an eye out for iconic Australian wildlife such as emus, kangaroos, echidnas and wallabies.
Days are spent paddling from one beautiful beachfront location to the next, snorkelling amazing coral reefs and setting up camp for the night before relaxing over a hearty and delicious dinner under a blanket of stars.
The Explorer itinerary is suitable for beginner to experienced paddlers keen for a relaxed paced trip with plenty of shore based snorkelling opportunities.

Day 1
Pick up from your Exmouth hotel. Transfer to the Exmouth base for gear fitting and packing before the drive to Cape Range National Park. Dinner under the stars. Camping.
Day 2
Transfer to Yardie Creek Gorge for a morning walk to seek out endangered black-flanked rock wallabies. After a safety briefing, we begin the kayak adventure and paddle north to Bingara. Our first snorkel may take place on the beautiful fringing reef offshore from Yardie Creek. Camping.
Day 3
Today we kayak a beautiful stretch of lagoon and reef, from Bungarra to South Mandu. We kayak across Sandy Bay, a stunning stretch of shallow turquoise lagoon. Turtles are common in this area and rays resting in the shallows may be seen. Camping.
Day 4
We paddle a shorter distance today in order to make time for the multitude of snorkelling opportunities in the Mandu Sanctuary Zone. Highlights are snorkelling Oyster Stacks and the Turquoise Bay drift, both sites have an amazing array of corals and fishes, just metres from the beach. Camping.
Day 5
Today we paddle across broad stretches of lagoon where turtle sightings are common. Our beach camp tonight is not far from Mangrove Bay, one of Ningaloo’s nursery areas, home to sheltering juvenile turtle, rays and baby reef sharks. Camping.
Day 6
Our final day sees us paddling along a broad stretch of turquoise lagoon dotted with beautiful coral formations and where dolphins and turtles are often sighted. Once we reach our destination we unpack the kayaks, load them on the trailer and head back into Exmouth town where the adventure concludes.
