South Georgia located in the heart of the Southern Ocean features dramatic peaks rising to 3000 metres vast glaciers and pristine sandy beaches presenting some of the most breathtaking landscapes on Earth.

The island teems with wildlife. Beaches and coastal plains host hundreds of thousands of king penguins while enormous elephant seals dominate the shoreline during breeding season. Seal pups explore the beaches while seabirds circle overhead.

With no land based predators wildlife encounters are remarkably close creating unforgettable moments in one of the planet’s most extraordinary natural environments

Aboard the ocean nova

Launched in Denmark in 1992 and refurbished in 2006 the Ocean Nova is an intimate expedition vessel carrying a maximum of 78 passengers in well appointed twin and triple cabins all with ocean views and private bathrooms.

Each cabin features a desk chair and storage space. Guests dine in the onboard dining room and relax in the panorama lounge while enjoying views of polar landscapes.

The vessel offers a polar library lecture facilities and open bridge access. Observation decks provide excellent wildlife viewing while the relaxed atmosphere creates a genuine expedition style experience.
