What experience do I need?
To enjoy our sea kayaking holidays you should be moderately fit, appreciate the outdoors, and have a sense of adventure. On our warm water Pacific Island and Hinchinbrook trips beginners are welcome, but prior tent camping experience will help prepare you for the remote areas we visit. Pristine beaches, cultural interaction, and unique bird and marine life are the rewards! For the High Arctic, Greenland, Antarctica, Panama, Turkey and Scotland, some previous paddling experience is required. As with most activities, the fitter you are, the more you will enjoy the kayak trip.

We are always happy to discuss your paddling experience and suitability for a particular holiday, and can often suggest appropriate tuition at home to prepare you for the sea kayaking trip of your choice.

What equipment is included?
We use fleets of fast single and double kayaks on our warm water trips, except Vanuatu where we use inflatable kayaks. We use plastic kayaks (mainly doubles, and a few singles) for the polar and Scotland trips and provide waterproof dry-suits for polar paddling. We provide all kayaking and safety equipment. For most trips that involve camping, we provide tents and other group camping equipment.

Cuisine
We pride ourselves on the presentation, variety and taste of our meals. We use fresh fruit and vegetables, and delight in offering a wholesome menu. Onboard Polar Pioneer, delicious meals are prepared by professional chefs. If you have special dietary needs, just let us know in advance.

How big are the groups?
Small groups, generally of 8 to 10 participants, ensure we maintain the highest standards and travel in style. Ages generally range from 20 to 60, but our participants have included high school students.

Family & Private Trips
Each year more past clients return for a paddling adventure with family and friends. If our scheduled Fiji kayak tour departures don't suit you, we'll be happy to put together a special itinerary for a family with young children or private group of friends, either expedition style or resort based. For experienced paddlers we can offer escorted, rather than fully guided kayak trips. We can even put together a fabulous "honeymoon" sea kayaking adventure. Costs are provided on request.
